Fall 2021 Recorded Workshop
About the event
Many children receiving play therapy treatment experience regulation problems. Emotion regulation deficits are at the core of their inability to recognize emotional responses. This workshop will discuss the theory of emotion regulation and intentionally utilizing LEGO in play therapy treatment.
This play therapy workshop was developed from an integrative framework to help children with maladaptive thinking to change feelings and behaviors. Combining LEGO bricks with a directive play therapy approach can help children focus on what they are experiencing in the moment and taking responsibility for behavioral responses that occur as a result of emotion dysregulation. Mental health professionals will practice 2D and 3D therapeutic activities that can be used in play therapy treatment to engage children in identifying and discussing various emotions.
